Vegvisir: A ship adorned with powerful runes awaits in the cove. The sun has turned the surface of the sea orange. The air smells of sweat and tar, and beer flows in leather pouches moistened by the sea air. The village blacksmith has once again toiled in his dark forge, and as a boisterous group of Viking warriors boards the ship, the smith hands the warriors a Vegvisir, a rune compass. “If the stars and currents lead you astray, the Vegvisir will guide you through storms and traps. It knows your destination, even if you wander through the fog,” he says.
